As you can see from the title –

Happy 1st year Anniversary to Simple Things with Lis – blog! 

I can’t believe it’s been an entire year since I posted my first blog on January 24th, 2019. I remember the feeling like it was yesterday, I didn’t realize something this little could bring me so much joy.  After weeks of researching and finally coming up with a domain name, I had my own “online journal” to blog about fashion, travel, home decor and real life experiences. Its been a crazy first month of this year with flying to Miami and Ryan selling his home to finally getting my citizenship – I completely missed my blogiversary, but as usual – better late than never – Cheers!

I am beyond grateful for those of you who encouraged me to just “Do it”  and for the honey who supports all I do and deals with my all my photo request – lol

I just want to take the time to say – Thank you!! 

Although it’s been a year of blogging, there’s still so much to learn. Launching my blog definitely wasn’t a smooth road. In fact, it was challenging. I knew I loved fashion and decor but I know absolutely nothing about blogging.  There’s so much that goes into growing your audience and followers on social media to how many people actually visit your blog and subscribe to finally making some type of profit from blogging.  As you can see, blogging is just for fun right now, a side hobby were I get to express myself. I still have a full time job Monday-Friday and weekends I’ll get dressed up, take pictures and create content. It’s a learning process but I am here for the long run and I am loving it. 

After blogging for my first year, I look at this as a learning curve. Now, going into my second year, it’s time to get more serious. No one ever tells you how frustrating blogging can actually be. You have to put in the time, energy and dedication in order to have a successful blog, just as a any business – nothing worth having comes easy!

In honor of my first year blogging, here’s a couple of lessons I’ve learned so far along the way;

Persistence is KEY 

Nothing will grow overnight – you have to be persistent in creating content and postings in order to continue to grow your audience. This can take months to years but as long as you take baby steps and continue to see results, you will see everything develop slowly but surely. This took me a while to understand, as you can see from my archives – I started in January but I didn’t pick up until sometime September and although I never wanted to give up – I just kept pushing myself to do the best I can.

Don’t try to be so PERFECT

This is still a hard one for myself . I am far from perfection but I am just picky about all my content and want everything to look the best it can. It’s hard when you see experienced bloggers and can’t help but judge your own content. It’s a learning process and this year, I want to focus on creating content I will continue to love and show you while not comparing to others.

 Educate Yourself

I am constantly trying to find ways to educate myself through books, online reading and feedback from other bloggers. Knowledge is power and networking is such a big part of this industry. Overall, I believe the best part of any business is through your own success and failures but any help along the way is working smarter not harder.   

Always set GOALS

Just like in any business, making a plan is an essential part to running it effectively. How much content do you want to post per week? How many subscribers do you want to have by next year? How much profit do you hope to achieve? Setting goals will keep you on track and in order for your blog to be successful. 

In conclusion it’s been one joyful journey so far and filled with many learning experiences and I am looking forward to another great year.
