Christmas Day in NYC

Good Morning!

I just want to start by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!

Waking up on Christmas day in New York is something I thought I would never say. Although it’s my second year celebrating Christmas here it’s still so unreal. I hope while being here, one year I’ll finally get my white Christmas with snow falling – a girl can only dream, right? lol This Christmas, Ryan and I decided to relax and watch movies at home and enjoy some alone time.

The beauty of New York is there’s so many activities to do around the city with the Family. Spending the holiday season in the Big Apple can be so magical. There’s so many iconic landmarks, retail stores, and even restaurants decorated with Christmas trees, twinkling lights and so much more festive Christmas decor to put anyone in the Christmas spirit.

The truth is, New York is the city that never sleeps, not even on Christmas Day. Here’s a list of some activities to look into if you’re in NYC or plan to visit during Christmas Day.

  1. Christmas tree at the Rockefeller CenterThe most famous giant Christmas Tree that’s usually lit from 5:30 am to 11:30 pm but on Christmas Day, it’s bright and Merry for a full 24 hours.
  2. Go Ice-Skating – Be aware – the lines are ridiculous, so if you really want to go ice-skating, be patent. There’s Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park is my favorite place to go ice skating.  They are open from 11 am to 8 pm. You can shop for additional gifts, they have tasty bites all around their holiday market. There’s also the iconic Rink at the Rockefeller Center. Open from 7 am to midnight, which is were you can skate while viewing the New York famous Christmas tree. Last, which I still have to check out is the Sky Rink at the winter-land, this is on the rooftop of pier 17.  You will have beautiful view of the Hudson River.
  3. The Rockettes perform at Radio City – It’s a NYC tradition, every year, these amazing group of dancers will light up the stage even on Christmas Day. They have amazing costumes, visual effects and incredible synchronized choreography.
  4.  Go watch a Broadway musical – Can’t go wrong with watching a Broadway musical on Christmas day with the family.
  5. Visit Fifth Avenue’s Christmas Holiday window displays – NYC’s finest department stores create their magical annual holiday windows. Barney’s, Bergdorf Goodman, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Sake fifth Avenue, Tiffany & Co. and so much more! I worked in retail for many years prior and I know all the work that goes into these amazing displays! Worth checking all of them out.

These are just a few of my top things but there’s a couple more to do on Christmas day and a ton to do all season long!

As always, Thanks for reading!
