How to Update Your Home Decor from Season to Season

Good Morning and Happy Sunday!

Seasonal transition is part of our everyday life. We make changes from summer to winter by changing our wardrobe. Therefore, it is only natural to make changes to your home decor as well and make each season come to life.

As we approach the winter season and best of all, Christmas,  I knew I wanted to change up some of my home decor.  If you have been following me, you will see that I moved back in May and my theme was very summery.  Now, as winter approaches, I am incorporating some decor with black and gold while still giving my home an open, airy feel with just minimal touches.

On this post, I will show you two simple steps I took to make changes while staying organized and still maintaining a theme based style. All on a budget.

THEME;

First, I want to start off by stating that choosing a theme from the beginning makes the transition easier . I always research different styles before deciding which one I truly want. Pinterest is my best friend and simply looking up black,white and gold living rooms will show you different ways others have styled their lovely homes. Once you have picked a theme, redecorating will come easy.

COLLAGE;

Second,  one of my favorite part in decorating is using collages to figure out the type of decor you want to use. I do this for all my projects/decorating/styling etc. I have them linked on my Instagram (Simplethingswithlis_Home_Decor) This keeps me organized while trying to determine which decor I want to buy/change or keep.

For Example, see picture below – First picture will be my bar cart – this is what I will be changing. I do this for each room/section and it doesn’t take much effort. This will give me ideas of what decor items may or may not work.  After I look around for options online and in catalogs, compare prices from various manufacturers (this step may differ based on individual budget) , and compare quality of items based on reviews , I then place my order  for delivery or go shopping at stores. Pro Tip: For items that may break easily in delivery, order for in-store pick up. I have received broken vases back to back because of poor packaging.

 VOILA – The final production, using same decor but incorporating some new updates!

ADDITIONAL TIPS;

Changing your home decor doesn’t have to be expensive nor do you have to make make major changes. Take key components from each room and make those updates happen. 

Some Key components in each room are 

1. Living room Sofa – Throw or pillow changes will give your space a new look
2. Dining Table – Center price with a different vase or flowers and placemats.   
3. Guest Bathroom – Towels with a theme style like fall flowers or snowflakes for winter. 

These are just some of the examples to hopefully help you get some ideas.
